18 Jun The Train
On Tuesday evening we got a taxi to Chiang Mai train station to catch an overnight train to Bangkok. Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand and it has the longest city name in the world:
Krungthepmahanakhon Amonrattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilokphop Noppharatratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amonphiman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukamprasit
I don’t know how to pronounce it.
First we got onto the train and put our bags on a rack. Our seats were not like ordinary seats on trains they were big armchairs and they were really comfy. I sat opposite Sylvie and we did some drawings of Axolotls. After a lady came out and set up a table so we could have dinner, I really didn’t like mine because the tofu was sloppy and the egg was crunchy. Soon after that a man came out to make our bunk bed. Only people over 12 were allowed to go on the top bunk so I had to go on the bottom bunk. I couldn’t get to sleep so I did drawings and a poster about how much I miss some people. I got scared in the night and I went into my mum’s bed and I slept for the rest of the night in her bed. I ended up getting less than an hour’s sleep so we were all really tired the next day (but we had a nap).
We went on a tour of the city and we went in lots of boats and visited temples and I really enjoyed it that day (apart from being really tired). We played cards in the evening and had street food and then I watched Maleficent with Sylvie (my mum fell asleep watching it).
Today I had a big lie in and have mostly done school work and writing this blog but we went out for lunch and on the way back we went down a canal and ended up seeing monitor lizards swimming in the canal hunting for fish. When they swam they tucked their feet in so they looked like snakes which was really funny. We found out they can grow up to 3 metres long but these were young and looked a bit less than a metre long.
