    Temples

On Saturday (Day 6) we set off early in the morning to visit some temples but first for breakfast I had mango sticky rice, which we bought from the local market. The market was loud and there were stalls and people everywhere. I didn’t like it at all when we walked past seafood stalls. However, I ate my mango sticky rice under a tree away from the noise and smells and it was absolutely delicious.

We went to three temples but the one I want to tell you about is called Wat Sri Suphan – The Silver Temple. The legend is that there was a magic ox that lived in a cave near the Waulai village. The ox had a golden body and gem horns and it pooped silver and gems, which is quite funny. The Waulai people went to the mountain when the ox was out trying to find food and they discovered the silver poop. They learnt to sculpt the silver poo and became expert silversmiths.

Everything at the temple was made of silver and it had pictures of places around the world in the walls and one of the pictures was Stonehenge!!
