    Bangkok

We stayed in Bangkok for three nights and in that time we did quite a lot of things. The first thing we did was a boat trip along the Chao Phraya river. It was a hop on/ hop off boat so we could get off whenever we wanted to visit a place and then get back on to go somewhere else. On the boat trip we went to Wat Arun which was a very pretty temple on the riverside. Buried inside the temple are King Rama II’s ashes and you can walk around the outside to see all of the intricate carvings and patterns on the sides.

A highlight was walking along a canal (not the smell though which is horrible and eggy) because we saw lots of fish jumping out of the water and then we realised that they were trying to escape from the giant water monitors (lizards)! There were several lizards that were about a meter long. They were  very cool and swam really fast. Also I got to have a vegetarian burger at a cafe by the canal that evening, which tasted really good and not many places have them so it was a nice treat.

One more thing I’m going to tell you about is the massage that Gwen, mum and I had. It was a half an hour oil massage and it was sooo nice. At first they massaged our backs then our legs and finally our shoulders, necks and heads, they also made us do some stretches at the end which was really funny because none of us are flexible at all. They gave up on trying to stretch mum and Gwen 🤣
