11 Jun Doi Suthep
On Wednesday we set off in the morning to hike up the monks trail on Doi Suthep, along the trail there are two temples called Wat Phra Lat and Wat Doi Suthep.
The first section of the journey to Wat Phra Lat was quite easy with a pretty waterfall on the way but it was really noisy from all the crickets/insects/birds. When we got to the temple it was hidden in the trees with a river running through it. Out of all the temples we’ve been to this one was my favourite because it felt really peaceful and natural.
We then trekked the pilgrim’s trail up to the next temple. It was really steep and hard work. When we got to the second temple (Wat Doi Suthep) it was more busy and formal but it had an amazing view. We also found a giant millipede which was really cool. To get to the temple you had to climb lots of really steep steps, there were over 200 of them and we had already trekked up the mountain!
At the end of the day we got a taxi down the mountain to a restaurant called Aum and they do really good vegan and vegetarian Thai food. I got vegetarian Khao Soi an it was reallllllyyyyy good 😋
